Burke & Herbert Bank $100s for Homes
Division-Winners Generate Big Donation for Charity
Congratulations to the Washington Capitals for winning the National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division!
The end of the 2018-2019 regular-season also concludes the "Hundreds for Homes" drive, during which Burke & Herbert Bank has donated $100 to Rebuilding Together DC · Alexandria for every goal the Caps have scored; the Bank also donated an extra $100 for every Washington hat trick (three goals scored in one game by the same player). With 278 goals scored this season - and four hat tricks (three by Alex Ovechkin and one by Nicklas Backstrom) - the Caps generated $28,200 for Rebuilding Together! Now that's a winning season!
Rebuilding Together DC · Alexandria is a non-profit organization that rebuilds & rehabilitates homes for those in need, improves common spaces & schools in low-income neighborhoods, and creates affordable housing in Alexandria and the District of Columbia.
The "Burke & Herbert Bank Hundreds for Homes" program marks the fourth straight year that Burke & Herbert Bank has teamed up with NBC Sports Washington to leverage the excitement of the hockey season and the enthusiasm of Capitals on-air announcers Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin to help a deserving local non-profit organization and raise awareness about an important cause.
Since the start of the 2015 hockey season, thanks to the impressive on-ice performance of the high-scoring Washington Capitals, the Bank has donated more than $25,000 each to Most Valuable Kids Inc. (2016), Alice's Kids, Inc. (2017), and Connect our Kids (2018).
Let's go Caps, good luck in the playoffs!
