Down Payment Assistance for First-Time Home Buyers

Up to $12,500 in matching funds available.

For many first-time home buyers, the biggest obstacle to home ownership is making a down payment. Burke & Herbert Bank offers access to funding that can help you make a down payment and/or pay for the closing costs incurred on a new home.

To participate in this down payment assistance program, borrowers must:

  • Contribute at least $1,000 toward your home’s purchase.
  • Occupy the home as your primary residence, with no cash refinance of the property, for at least five years.
  • Complete an approved home buyer education and financial literacy course specified by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.
  • Meet income eligibility requirements.*
