Witter Place to Provide Apartments for Working Class Individuals and Families

Alexandria, VA– Burke & Herbert Bank joined Community Housing Partners (CHP) and others to celebrate the groundbreaking for Witter Place Apartments, a complex aimed at providing affordable living for working class individuals and families in Alexandria, Virginia.

Bank CEO David Boyle offered remarks emphasizing that as a strong Community Bank this type of project is exactly what the Bank should be doing. He reflected on the importance of banks stepping up to do what is right and working to make communities affordable and accessible to all. Several Bank representatives were on hand to applaud the project, including Bank Treasurer and CIO Geoffrey Boyle, Chief Lending Officer Brad Ritchie, Regional President Michael Solomon, and Commercial Lending Officer Tim Lascko.

Witter Place, located at 2712 Duke Street in Alexandria, will feature a mix of 94 two- and three-bedroom apartments serving households with incomes ranging from 40% to 60% of the area median income (AMI).

In addition to Burke & Herbert Bank, the $56 million Witter Place development is receiving funds from Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Virginia Housing, the City of Alexandria, NeighborWorks, the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, and Hudson Housing Capital. CHP Real Estate Development is leading the project, with Moseley Architects and Winstanley Architects providing architectural services, and Harkins Builders serving as the general contractor.
