Burke & Herbert Bank Welcomes New Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer

Roy Halyama and Kirtan Parikh Add Deep Financial Experience to Bank’s Finance Team

Alexandria, VA – Burke & Herbert Bank announced today that Roy E. Halyama has joined the Bank as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Halyama succeeds Jeffrey L. Stryker in the Chief Financial Officer role.  Earlier this year, Mr. Stryker announced his plan to retire at the end of 2021 following a successful thirty-seven year career at Burke & Herbert Bank.  He will work with Mr. Halyama through year-end to ensure a smooth and effective transition.   At the same time, the Bank also welcomed Kirtan Parikh as Senior Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer, a new role at the Bank.

Mr. Halyama has a wealth of finance, accounting, and leadership experience, most recently, serving as the Chief Financial Officer for PNC Capital Finance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he was responsible for all finance functions related to the private equity line of business.  Prior to this position, he spent more than ten years at PNC in increasingly expanded leadership roles.  His previous experience also includes a corporate finance role at F.N.B. Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Chief Financial Officer role at Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio, and several accounting, finance and investment roles over the course of fourteen years at JP Morgan and Bank One in Columbus, Ohio and New York, New York.  Roy earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting and Master of Business Administration, Finance at The Ohio State University.

Mr. Parikh is an accomplished finance and accounting operations leader with over fifteen years of professional experience.  He comes to Burke & Herbert Bank from Deloitte Advisory in Mclean, Virginia where he served most recently as a Senior Manager.  His long-time career with Deloitte also includes a Director role with Deloitte UK in London and a Senior Auditor position with Deloitte Audit in Boston, Massachusetts and New York, New York.   In addition, Mr. Parikh spent two years at the Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) in Washington, DC as a Professional Accounting Fellow.  He is a graduate of Boston University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with concentrations in Finance and Accounting and minor in Economics.  He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) level II designation.
