Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust Company Announces Change to Board of Directors

Alexandria, VA – Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust Company (OTCPK: BHRB) (the “Bank”) announced that Kenneth L. Wainstein has stepped down from the Bank’s Board of Directors, following his confirmation by the United States Senate to serve as Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security. 

“We are grateful for the wisdom and guidance Ken provided over the past six years as a member of our Board,” said E. Hunt Burke, the Bank’s Chairman. “Although his contributions to our success will be greatly missed, we cannot think of a more capable and deserving individual for his role in keeping our country safe.”

Before his confirmation, Mr. Wainstein was a partner in the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP. During his time in private practice, he also served as a law school adjunct professor teaching national security law for twelve years, as a commissioner on the Bipartisan Commission on Biodefense, and as a member of the Public Interest Declassification Board. Mr. Wainstein had previously spent over 20 years in a number of law enforcement and national security positions in the federal government, including as a prosecutor in both the Southern District of New York and the District of Columbia, as General Counsel of and then Chief of Staff to the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, as Assistant Attorney General for National Security at the Department of Justice, and as Homeland Security Advisor to President George W. Bush.
