Bank Donates $26,300 to Benefit Children in Our Community

Burke & Herbert Bank and the Capitals Score for Kids!

Alexandria, VA, April 20, 2017 – Burke & Herbert Bank is pleased to announce that the 2016-17 "Burke & Herbert Bank Scores for Kids" program has resulted in a $26,300 donation to Alice's Kids, Inc. At the outset of this year's Washington Capitals season, the Bank pledged to donate $100 for every goal scored by the Caps during the regular season to the Alexandria-based not-for-profit organization. This season, the Capitals scored 263 goals – their highest ever in regular-season play.

Alice's Kids provides financial assistance to children by paying for smaller-ticket but urgently needed items that matter to a kid's success and self-esteem, such as clothing, shoes, school supplies, class trip fees, instrument rentals, sports uniforms and equipment, and more. The Bank's donation is expected to enable the organization to assist nearly 1,000 more children throughout the area.

The season-long "Burke & Herbert Bank Scores for Kids" program was promoted during Washington Capitals television broadcasts on CSN Mid-Atlantic. This was the second year during which the Bank sponsored the "Scores for Kids" program. The 2015-16 program resulted in a $25,200 donation to Most Valuable Kids, Inc.

"We are pleased and proud to provide a significant assist to Alice's Kids mission to help thousands of children and their families in our area," said Terry Cole, Executive Vice President at Burke & Herbert Bank. "As a local community bank, it is important to us to make a difference in the community not only through the banking products and services we provide but also through programs such as Scores for Kids that benefit such a worthy cause."

The CSN Mid-Atlantic Capitals broadcast team joined representatives from the Bank and Alice's Kids to present the "big check" to the organization immediately following the Capitals final regular-season game on April 9.

Ron Fitzsimmons, Founder, President and Executive Director of Alice's Kids said, "As the Executive Director of Alice's Kids, I want to convey our deepest appreciation for this incredible donation. From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of all those we serve, thank you so much."
