Fraud Alert: Phone Scam Awareness
There has been a rise in phone scams across the banking industry where fraudsters impersonate bank employees and spoof legitimate bank phone numbers in an attempt to obtain digital banking credentials and other sensitive information.
As part of these scams, caller ID may make it appear the call is coming from a trusted source. Scammers are able to spoof legitimate Bank phone numbers, such as our Client Care Center number (855‑571‑5824), even though the call is not actually coming from Burke & Herbert Bank.

Burke & Herbert Bank will NEVER call or text you unsolicited to request your:
- Online Banking username or password
- One‑time passcodes or security codes
- Debit card number or PIN
Scam callers often sound professional and may apply pressure or use time‑sensitive messaging about suspicious or attempted charges to prompt immediate action.
WHAT TO DO:
If you receive a call that raises concern:
- Do not provide personal, account, or login information.
- End the call and contact the Bank directly.
- Use a phone number you trust, the number listed on our website, or contact your local branch.
