Over $20,000 and Counting!

With the National Hockey League (NHL) season closing in on its final month, the “Burke & Herbert Bank Scores for Veterans” program is going strong: as of early March, the donation amount had grown to $20,000 to help support active duty and Veteran service members dealing with the effects of PTSD. For every Washington Capitals goal scored during the 2022-23 NHL regular season, Burke & Herbert Bank will donate $100 to Serve Our Willing Warriors, a non-profit organization that provides respite stays at the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run, where warriors and their families can relax, heal, spend quality time, and reconnect.
The “Burke & Herbert Bank Scores for Veterans” program marks the eighth year in a row that Burke & Herbert Bank has teamed up with NBC Sports Washington to leverage the excitement of the hockey season and the enthusiasm of Capitals on-air announcers Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin to help a deserving local non-profit organization and raise awareness about an important cause.
Thanks to the impressive on-ice performance of the high-scoring Washington Capitals, the Bank has donated over $25,000 each to Most Valuable Kids Inc. (2016), Alice’s Kids, Inc. (2017), Connect our Kids (2018), Rebuilding Together DC-Alexandria (2019), Homestretch (2020), Operation Renewed Hope (2021) and GrandInvolve (2022).
Let’s go Caps!
