Burke & Herbert Bank Welcomes New Senior Leader
William W. Newell Joins Bank as Chief Lending Officer
Alexandria, VA, Feb. 14, 2014 – Burke & Herbert Bank is pleased to announce that William W. Newell has joined the Bank as Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. In this senior leadership position, Mr. Newell will play a key role in developing and executing the strategy to grow and diversify the Bank’s commercial loan portfolio.

Prior to joining Burke & Herbert Bank, Mr. Newell held the position of Executive Vice President and Director of Commercial Banking at StellarOne Bank in Charlottesville, Virginia where he was responsible for the oversight of Commercial Banking, Business Banking, Commercial Real Estate Finance, Middle-Market, Specialty Commercial Growth Initiatives, and Treasury Management Sales and Service for the bank. He previously held senior Commercial Banking positions at SunTrust Bank and RBC Bank and has more than 30 years of banking experience overall. Mr. Newell is based at the Burke & Herbert Bank main office in Old Town Alexandria.
